Rock (1977-83) - chronicle of a missed opportunity - Laurent Jaoui (2010) - For justice to prevail French Rock (1977-83) - a chronicle of missed appointments - Laurent Jaoui (2010)
France and rock ... broad subject that one ... how is it that this little country of ours, and culture buff who in his time, he should certainly go back to the lights to do this, beamed to the world, has offered such a poor reception to the music also so popular and rependue?

is this question that aims to answer this fascinating little book through the comparative history of three groups but not brilliant yet never succeed to go beyond the status of outsiders promising, until they throw for at least 2 of them, the sponge undermined by the lack of recognition and success, and agony that inevitably ensue in such cases. Bijou Starshooter and Dogs, they are through their sad fates that Laurent Jaoui, otherwise brilliant sports journalist, trying to understand what missed appointments between one of the most important music in the 20th century culture and hexagonal. In less than 6 years they have seen it all and tried everything, singing in French or English, attempting an adventure beyond the borders of our small country, evolving from a rock without concession to a world closer to the sacrosanct song French, c is the witness of all those involved directly or indirectly in the adventure that the author seeks to explain this mystery.

No luck? Amateurism? Dilettantism? Navel gazing hex? No, none of that during those 6 years each of 3 groups has their own way, made every effort to get closer to the sun closer to success. So is it with distrust of the culture imported by the big American brother, is the heavy shadow of an untouchable sacred song by French intellectuals, unavoidable in France, is this syndrome which may explain Poulidor missed this? A little of this, no doubt. Never respond categorically Jaoui gives tracks, opens doors, not without paying a heartfelt tribute to the sincere and passionate and exciting infantrymen of the great crusade on French soil music binary.

So this was an exciting book, hosted by a collection that does not lack (from what you think, big disgusting, but most intelligent of books) to read cross as the biography of 3 groups unfortunately often underestimated, but also as a reflection brilliantly constructed and argued on the love story between a flawed and disappointing countries that do not, however, lack of public and artists and a music prompt to a call to rebellion and even revolution .... Where are your arms citizens? Where are trained your battalions? The standard (French rock) bloody (oh yes) Is it up yet? Given what we hear in the countryside (and not just presidential), it is reasonable to doubt.
